Abolitionist Mental Health in NYC & NJ
Psychotherapy is political.
My psychotherapy practice is a political act of working with people affected by systems of oppression and control, especially the lives of Black, Indigenous, Queer, and People of Color. My positionality drives me to dismantle systems of harm that push people to societal margins and to rebuild anew with systems that reconnect us to community; systems that build relationships with people, land, and spirit - guided by ancestral ways of being in relationship with one another.
I acknowledge my complicity in an industry - social work - that too is rooted in the control and order of Black and Brown people. I utilize my licensure in this industry to offer community members interpersonal support aligned with anti-oppressive and anti-racist practice. I remain culturally humble and in a constant state of critical reflexiveness - the application of unlearning and learning - in order to better serve the needs of my community.
